It was planted in 1997, with its first commercial harvest in 2001. The vineyard is located in the extreme northwest point of Edna Valley under the slope of Mt. Islay, an old volcano, and is influenced by cool Pacific Ocean air and one of the longest growing seasons in California. Yields generally run around three tons an acre or less.
